Mercedes V Klasse Diesel Stalling Issue

My 2008 Mercedes V Klasse diesel, with low mileage, has the check engine light on and stalls at idle, with reduced performance. Diagnostics show a rail pressure sensor signal fault. Could the pressure sensor be defective?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had almost the same thing happen with my old Renault Megane. Check engine light, sputtering engine, the works! Turned out to be the fuel pressure sensor acting up. Made the car feel like it was choking. Hope it's an easy fix!

When you had this issue with your Renault Megane, were the symptoms identical, specifically the stalling at idle? Did the diagnostic report explicitly identify a fault with the sensor signal, or merely indicate a fuel pressure anomaly?

Yeah, stalling at idle was definitely part of it. And the diagnostics pointed directly at the fuel pressure sensor. Honestly, I'm no mechanic. I took it straight to the workshop. They replaced the sensor, and it sorted everything out.

Thank you for sharing. Your input has been most helpful. I shall proceed with replacing the rail pressure sensor, hoping it fixes the issues. The estimated repair cost is about 240€.
