Mercedes V Klasse emergency call malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Mercedes V Klasse is experiencing an emergency call system malfunction, indicated by an error message and warning light. The issue may stem from a cable or plug connection problem. A system reset was suggested but not detailed in the manual. Ultimately, a professional diagnosis confirmed a defective cable as the cause, which was resolved at a workshop for 95€.

A system reset? How do I do that? I haven't seen anything about a reset procedure in the manual. And no, the error message doesn't give specific diagnostic codes, just a general malfunction warning. Where should I start looking for a faulty connection?

On my Volvo, there was a sequence to reset the telematics module, pressing a combination of buttons. Your Mercedes might be different. I suggest consulting a professional. I took my Volvo to the workshop, and they said it was a faulty connector. It cost me 95€ to fix. That's probably the safest bet.

Thanks for the advice. I suspected as much. I will take it to the workshop. They confirmed your suspicion, it was indeed a defective cable. Bill came to 95€. Thanks again!

Emergency call malfunction is a serious thing. I had a similar problem with my old Volvo. Have you tried a system reset? Sometimes that clears the diagnostic codes. Does the error message give you specific codes? It could help narrow down the issue before you start investigating.
