Mercedes V Klasse Limp Mode and Gearbox Problems

My 2018 Mercedes V Klasse with a gasoline engine is having an issue. At 90611 km, the transfer case is engaging limp mode. The gearbox is slipping and shifting poorly. I've read this could be related to the ABS system. Can a bad ABS module cause this? Or a faulty gear selector? I'm seeing many diagnostic trouble codes.

That sounds frustrating. I have a V Klasse and had similar symptoms last year: limp mode and gearbox issues. Did you check the control module for error messages? Is limp home active? Are there codes for wheel speed sensors or the ABS pump?

When you say similar symptoms, was it identical limp mode, or just rough shifting? Did you also get unrelated diagnostic trouble codes? I'm seeing ABS errors and transmission faults. Did you fix it yourself, or take it to a shop?

It was full limp mode. I got a cascade of errors, like the car was falling apart. After a weekend of messing with it, I took it to a workshop. The mechanic found a faulty ABS module causing issues with the transmission control.

I was hoping to avoid the workshop, but it sounds like the best move. The workshop confirmed it was the ABS module causing the transfer case to go into limp mode due to communication errors. They replaced the module and cleared the codes. It's running smoothly again. It was covered by warranty, so the repair cost was 0€.
