Mercedes V Klasse Malfunction Indicator Light

Engine light issues are never fun I had a similar experience with my old Opel Astra The malfunction indicator kept popping up, and the diagnostic scanner showed a fault code related to the control module It turned out to be a coding error, just like you suspect Does the error message provide any specific details, or is it just a generic 'check engine' warning Knowing the exact code could help narrow down the problem

The error message in the speedometer and infotainment system is rather generic The diagnostic scanner at the workshop revealed a fault code pointing towards incorrect vehicle coding Could you elaborate on what you mean by 'coding error'

Okay, so a 'coding error' basically means the electronic control module, which is like the brain of the car, isn't programmed correctly for your specific vehicle configuration Think of it like installing the wrong software on a computer In my case, the control module needed to be reprogrammed with the correct parameters It's usually a dealer or a specialized workshop job, so taking it in is probably the right move The diagnostic scanner will give them more information than it gives us Hopefully, it won't cost you too much

Thank you for the clarification I took the Mercedes V Klasse diesel to the workshop, and indeed, the vehicle coding was incorrect They recoded the control module, and the error is now gone The repair cost amounted to 360€ Appreciate your input
