Mercedes V Klasse Microphone Problems

My 2019 Mercedes V Klasse with a diesel engine is giving me grief. The hands-free microphone seems to have died. Telephony is completely out of the question, and the error memory is storing some kind of fault related to it. Could this be the audio system? I'm worried it's a defective infotainment system. Has anyone else experienced this audio input nightmare?

Sounds familiar. I have a V Klasse too. I had a similar issue where the speech recognition went haywire and the sound quality during calls was atrocious due to ambient noise. Did you notice any other weird behavior from your audio system?

Interesting. Besides the obvious – no telephony, I haven't noticed any other issues with the audio system itself. Music plays fine. Could you elaborate on what other 'weird behavior' you experienced? Was it definitely the microphone causing the poor sound quality?

Yeah, music was fine for me too. The weirdness was mostly related to the microphone. Turns out, the whole unit was faulty. Honestly, I'd get it checked at a workshop. It sounds like your infotainment system might be the culprit, just like mine was.

Thanks for the insight. It's looking like a trip to the workshop is unavoidable. They've quoted me around 815€ for the repair, claiming the infotainment system needs replacing. I appreciate you confirming my suspicions and sharing your experience!
