Mercedes Viano Windshield Washer Problem
Summary of the thread
The 2003 Mercedes Viano had a persistent windshield washer problem, with the washer fluid low warning light always on despite a full reservoir, and the system not functioning. Possible causes included a faulty washer motor, clogged spray jets, or electrical connection issues. The solution was replacing a faulty sensor in the washer fluid reservoir, which resolved the warning light issue and restored the washer system's functionality.

Electrical connections make sense Where would I find the washer motor to check the connections What specific wires should I be looking for How would I test the stalk switch

The washer motor is typically located near the washer fluid reservoir, often in the wheel well area. Consult your vehicle's repair manual for the precise location. As for the wiring, you are looking for a two-wire connection one providing power and the other ground. A multimeter can test for voltage when the stalk switch is activated. Given the stored error code and complete system failure, a diagnostic scan with a Mercedes-Benz specific diagnostic tool would be wise before further disassembly. It may pinpoint the fault more accurately and prevent unnecessary parts replacement.

Regarding the windshield washer issue on your Mercedes Viano, the washer motor could be faulty. Before replacing it, inspect the electrical connections to the motor. Corrosion or loose wiring can act like a failing motor. Also, confirm the pump is receiving power when the washer stalk is activated. You might also check the spray jets for blockage; however, a complete system failure is less common with just blocked jets. Have you verified the functionality of the stalk switch itself?
