Mercedes X Klasse Diesel DPF Issue

Has anyone else with a 2018 Mercedes X Klasse diesel experienced a loss of engine power and smoke during acceleration? Diagnostics suggest a defective diesel particulate filter, and the engine light is on. I suspect excessive backpressure. Is filter replacement the only option, or is DPF cleaning a viable solution? Replacement estimates are around 1550€.

Yes, the engine light was on. After ruling out exhaust leaks, the workshop confirmed the DPF was defective. They recommended replacing the filter.
