Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't had a DPF regeneration done recently. How can I check the status of the emission control system without specialized equipment?

Given the lack of recent DPF regeneration and your limited access to diagnostic tools, I suggest visiting a qualified workshop. While visual inspection might reveal leaks, accurate emission control diagnostics and pressure sensor evaluation require specialized equipment. It is likely the pressure sensor, but a full diagnostic will confirm. Ignoring it may cause additional costly issues.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were right. It was the exhaust back pressure sensor. The repair cost 245€, and the reduced power and warning light are now gone. I appreciate the help with this DPF issue.

The symptoms you describe do suggest a potential DPF issue. I previously encountered a comparable situation with a different vehicle, a Volvo. Reduced power and smoke are common indicators. Your suspicion regarding the pressure sensor is reasonable. Has the vehicle undergone forced DPF regeneration recently? If not, that could contribute to the exhaust pressure issue. I would also verify the status of your vehicle's emission control system.
