Thanks for the information. Where exactly is the fuel sensor wiring located? Is it easily accessible, or do I need special tools to reach it?

The fuel sensor wiring is connected to the fuel tank. I would recommend consulting with a workshop. They can diagnose the issue properly and replace the fuel sensor if needed. It is a bit complex.

Turns out it was a defective fuse. Replaced it and the fuel sensor is working as expected. Repair cost 52€.

I have experienced similar issues with my X Klasse. The check engine light was on, and the error code pointed to the fuel sensor. Have you checked the wiring to the level sensor itself? Sometimes a loose connection can trigger a sensor fault.
