Mercedes X Klasse Diesel Engine Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Mercedes X Klasse diesel experienced power loss and a check engine light, with rough idling. The issue was suspected to be related to the throttle valve or accelerator pedal module. A diagnostic scan was recommended to identify the precise fault, with a focus on the throttle body and air flow readings. Ultimately, the throttle body was identified as the problem and replaced, resolving the issue and restoring smooth engine operation.

When you say diagnostic scan can I do that myself or do I need a garage What air flow readings should I expect Is there a simple way to check that without getting too technical

While basic OBDII scanners exist for home use, interpreting the data for a complex system like the throttle valve in your Mercedes requires professional-grade equipment The air flow readings are highly dependent on engine load and RPM; therefore, a baseline comparison is necessary Given the potential replacement cost and the intricacies involved, I advise consulting a qualified workshop for a thorough diagnosis and repair Attempting to fix this without the proper tools and knowledge could exacerbate the issue

I took it to the workshop It was the throttle body They replaced it, and all seems good now It cost me 265€ as expected, but at least the engine's running smoothly again and the check engine light is gone

The reduced engine power and check engine light suggest a potential issue with the throttle valve system Given the mileage, a malfunction within the throttle body or related sensors is plausible The accelerator pedal module can contribute to such problems if the electronics are degrading A diagnostic scan should be performed to ascertain the precise fault codes Monitor the air flow readings as well Anomalies could indicate an obstruction or sensor failure affecting the throttle body's operation
