Mercedes X Klasse error messages and malfunction indicator lamp

My 2017 Mercedes X Klasse with a diesel engine is throwing some weird errors. Mileage is at 292677 km. The malfunction indicator lamp is on, and I'm getting error messages both in the infotainment system and on the speedometer display. Engine diagnostics points to a fault code stored in the error memory. I suspect it's a coding issue with the control module. Has anyone seen this before?

Whoa, that sounds like a headache! I have an X Klasse as well and I had something similar happen. Check engine light was on and the system was going nuts with warnings. Not sure about the coding thing mentioned, that sounds complicated. Was it always like that or did it just randomly start showing up?

It started randomly. Nothing obvious triggered it. When you say you had something similar, was the engine light on constantly, and did it also point to a coding malfunction when you ran engine diagnostics? What exactly did you do to solve it?

Yeah, the engine light was constantly on, super annoying. I don't recall exactly what the error codes were, but I remember being confused by them. I wouldn't mess with the coding yourself, might make things worse. The best bet is probably taking it to a good workshop to sort it out. They'll have the right tools to check the control module.

Thanks for the input. I took it to a workshop, and you were right, it was a coding issue with the control module. They recoded it. Cost me 360€, but at least the malfunction indicator is off now and the errors are gone.
