Mercedes X Klasse Fuel Flap Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Mercedes X Klasse diesel had a fuel flap issue where the release mechanism wasn't working, and the fuel filler flap wouldn't lock or unlock. The problem was linked to an error in the system memory, and other functions were also malfunctioning. Possible causes included a broken linkage, mechanical disconnections, or electrical issues such as faulty fuses or relays. The solution was to replace a defective fuel filler flap actuator, which resolved the issue.

Thanks for the reply Do you mean the button inside the car or on the fuel filler And where is this cable release mechanism I'm trying to avoid a big bill if it's simple

Yes, I mean the internal switch inside the car The cable release mechanism depends on your X Klasse model If it has one, it's near the fuel filler, maybe behind a panel in the trunk Given your expertise, I advise a qualified technician Ignoring electrical issues can cause more problems

Intermittent electrical issues can be vexing Have you checked if the release button itself works Also, inspect the cable release mechanism if your car has one Look for mechanical issues or disconnections Check the fuses and relays for the fuel door release circuit This might show the cause
