Mercedes X Klasse Massage Seat Issue

My 2018 Mercedes X Klasse with a diesel engine has developed a curious problem. The massage seat switch on the driver's side is completely unresponsive. The massage function cannot be activated. I scanned the car and there's an error stored related to the seat motor. I suspect a faulty cable or plug connection. What is the chance that I would need to replace the whole seat switch? Has anyone experienced something similar? The fault diagnosis estimates around 95€ for a repair.

That does sound frustrating. A faulty seat switch is not unheard of. Before assuming the worst, I would examine the fuses related to the seat and massage function. It's like checking the circuit breaker before calling an electrician when the lights go out. Then, given the error code points to the seat motor, I would double check the wiring and connection to the seat motor itself. Sometimes a connector comes loose or corrodes, causing intermittent issues. Do you have the specific error code available? That might offer more insight. Is the massage setting working on the passenger seat?

Good point regarding the passenger seat. I can confirm that the massage setting is working fine on the passenger side. The error code stored is B241015. What does this error code mean? Where can I find the fuses related to the driver seat and massage function?

B241015 typically indicates a fault within the seat's control circuit itself, or a communication issue with the CAN bus network. If the passenger seat is working, the main power supply is likely fine, narrowing it down to the driver's seat components. As for the fuse location, consult your vehicle's owner's manual. It has a fuse diagram. Given the complexity and the error code, a workshop visit could prevent further complications. It might be a simple fix, but it's best to proceed with caution.

Thank you for the advice! I followed your suggestion and took the car to a local workshop. Turns out, it was indeed a faulty connection in the seat switch plug. They cleaned the contacts and secured the plug, and the massage chair is now fully functional again. The final bill was exactly the amount quoted in the error report.
