Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful. Sounds like getting it sorted early was a good call, considering what could've happened. Just wondering would you mind sharing what the total repair cost came to? And has everything been smooth sailing since the fix, or have you noticed any other issues pop up?

Hey there! Thanks for asking about the follow-up. Actually, I got pretty lucky it wasn't nearly as bad as I initially thought it might be. After taking my QX60 Hybrid to the dealer, it turned out the main issue was just that Engine oil pressure switch being defective, plus they had to deal with some incorrect engine oil that had been put in during my last service at another shop. The total came to 175€ for everything, which honestly felt like a bargain considering what I was worried it might be! Since getting it fixed, my car's been running like a dream no warning lights, no weird noises, nothing. It's such a relief! Looking back, I probably scared you a bit with my first message about worn bearings and all that sorry about that! Sometimes we assume the worst, right? But yeah, couldn't be happier with how it turned out. The Infiniti dealer really knew their stuff with these hybrids. If you're still having issues with yours, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out soon. Better safe than sorry, especially with these hybrid systems! How's your situation going? Did you end up taking it in yet?

Thanks for the update! Actually, I just got back from the mechanic today. You won't believe it, but I had a pretty similar experience. Finally got the courage to take it to the Infiniti dealer downtown you know, the one on Marshall Street? Turned out my problem was also related to the oil pressure switch and some contaminated oil from my last quick-lube service. The mechanic showed me where the issue was and explained everything clearly. Cost me about 200€, which included the new switch, oil change, and labor. Not too bad considering how worried I was about major engine damage! They had my car ready in just a day, and I can already feel the difference. The warning lights are gone, and the engine's running smoother than before. Really glad I didn't wait any longer to get it checked out. Guess sometimes our worst fears don't materialize! Thanks again for sharing your experience it really helped me make the decision to get it looked at by professionals. Now I know where to go for future maintenance too. What a relief!

I had a similar issue with my 2016 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid last winter. Those metal particles in the oil are definitely something you don't want to ignore. In my case, it turned out to be more serious than just an oil pressure switch. The metal shavings were coming from worn engine bearings due to incorrect oil being used during a previous oil change. Had to take it to a certified Infiniti dealer as they have the right diagnostic tools for hybrid systems. They did a complete oil analysis and found excessive wear in the bearings. The repair involved replacing the bearings and doing a thorough engine flush to remove all metal particles. They also replaced the oil pressure sensor since it was damaged by the metal debris. This isn't something I'd trust to a regular mechanic. Hybrid systems are complex, and you'll want someone who knows Infiniti hybrids specifically. The dealer might be expensive, but with metal in your oil, you really don't want to risk further engine damage. Mine took about 4 days to fix, but it's been running perfectly since then. I'd recommend getting it checked out ASAP before you end up with more serious engine damage.
