Metallic knocking in a Peugeot 208 - what to do?

I own a 2012 Peugeot 208 with a diesel engine and 91,000 km on the odometer. I have a problem with a metallic (dull) knocking sound while driving straight at low speed. The problem mainly appears after driving about 20 km, especially in high temperatures and dry conditions. I'm not sure if the sound comes from the front or rear, but it's more likely from the front of the car. I've already replaced the stabilizer links, tie rod ends, shock absorbers and springs, as well as the steering rack, but the problem persists. The worst thing is that the knocking only appears after driving a dozen kilometers, so the mechanic, after a short test drive, says everything is fine. What could you advise me?

Summary of the thread

A 2012 Peugeot 208 owner experiences a metallic knocking sound at low speeds after driving about 20 km, especially in high temperatures. Despite replacing several components, the issue persists. A suggested solution is to check the engine mounts for wear or damage, as they can cause such noises when worn, particularly after the engine heats up. Further inspection by a mechanic is recommended if the problem continues.

Check the engine mounts for wear or damage, as they can cause a knocking sound when they are worn out, especially after the engine heats up. Inspect them for any visible cracks or excessive movement. If they seem fine, consider having a mechanic inspect them further. Let me know how it goes or if you have any other questions!
