Micra ABS and Steering Issues

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2007 Nissan Micra, gasoline engine. A tire pressure low warning keeps appearing, and the ABS lamp lights up intermittently. The steering wheel vibrates, and I've noticed increased effort is required when steering; it feels as though the power steering may be failing. The car has only 35141 km on the clock. I checked the tire pressure and they seem alright, but the warning persists. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Nissan Micra is experiencing issues with a persistent tire pressure warning, intermittent ABS light, and vibrating, stiff steering, suggesting potential power steering failure. The problem may be caused by a defective tire valve leading to gradual pressure loss, which can affect the ABS and steering systems. It is recommended to have the tire valves checked at a workshop to address these issues.

I also drive a Nissan Micra, and this sounds awfully familiar. When this happened to me, it turned out to be a slow leak caused by a defective valve in one of the tires. The change in pressure was enough to trigger the tire pressure warning, which in turn seemed to mess with the ABS and power steering systems. Have you checked all the tires very carefully for any signs of damage or deflation?

Thanks for your input. You mention a defective valve. Was the pressure loss significant, or just a gradual thing? And did you also experience the ABS and steering issues concurrently with the pressure warning?

The pressure loss was gradual at first, making it difficult to detect visually. However, the electronic monitoring system picked it up quite quickly. And yes, I had the exact same symptoms: the ABS light, vibrating steering, and stiff steering all at the same time. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to have the tire valves checked. It could save you a lot of trouble.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience! I will definitely get the tire valves checked at a workshop as soon as possible. That's reassuring; I was fearing a much more expensive repair bill. It cost me around 280€, and they confirmed that I had a defective valve in tire.
