Micra ECU Error

Alright, need some help! My 2010 Nissan Micra, gasoline engine, is acting up. It's got 97013 km on the clock and feels like it's lost a ton of power. Plus, the check engine light is on. I scanned it and it's throwing an error related to the engine control unit. Could it be the ECU itself? I've heard that a defective main relay could cause this, anyone had this?

Greetings. I must confess, I encountered a similar predicament with my own vehicle, a 2014 Opel Astra, albeit a different make and model. The symptoms you describe, namely the reduction in engine power coupled with the presence of an error code pertaining to the engine control unit (ECU), are indeed indicative of a potential malfunction within the ECU's circuitry or its associated components. Specifically, the main relay, responsible for providing power to the ECU, warrants thorough examination. May I inquire as to whether you have conducted any preliminary diagnostics on the relay itself, such as voltage measurements or continuity tests, to ascertain its operational status?

Voltage measurements? Continuity tests? Woah there, Professor! I'm not that technical, haha. How exactly would I check the main relay? Where is it even located? And what readings am I looking for?

Ah, my apologies for the technical jargon. Verifying the main relay involves a systematic approach. First, locate the relay within the vehicle's electrical distribution box (typically situated under the hood or dashboard). Subsequently, employ a multimeter to assess the voltage across the relay's terminals when the ignition is both on and off. A significant deviation from the specified voltage range (usually 12V) may signify a malfunctioning relay. Similarly, a continuity test can determine whether the relay's internal contacts are properly conducting electricity. Given the potential complexity of these procedures, it may be prudent to seek the expertise of a qualified automotive technician for accurate diagnosis and rectification.

Thanks a bunch for the insight! I ended up taking it to a workshop. Turns out it was the main relay! They replaced it, cleared the error codes, and the Micra is running like new again. Cost me 120€ all in. Appreciate the help!
