Mini Cabrio ABS Light and Lateral Acceleration Sensor Issue

I am experiencing a rather disconcerting issue with my 2009 Mini Cabrio. The ABS lamp has illuminated, indicating a failure within the ABS system. Diagnostic procedures have revealed an error stored in the error memory pertaining to the lateral acceleration sensor. Based on my assessment, the most probable cause appears to be a defective electronic control unit. I anticipate the eventual repair cost to be in the vicinity of 1000€. Has anyone else encountered a similar issue with their vehicle, particularly concerning the electronic stability system and its potential impact on the steering angle and overall vehicle dynamics? This safety warning is quite concerning.

ABS and stability control acting up on your Mini Cabrio? Sounds awfully familiar. I had similar symptoms, ABS light and all. Was the steering angle sensor acting funny too? I'd put money on a yaw rate sensor issue. Check the electronic stability system pronto.

Can you elaborate on the yaw rate sensor issue you encountered? Did it also trigger an error code specifically pointing to the lateral acceleration sensor, or were there other codes present as well? Also, did you manage to resolve it yourself, or did it require professional intervention?

Yep, lateral acceleration sensor was the culprit for me too. It’s tied into the whole electronic control system. Honestly, with something like that affecting safety, I wouldn't mess around. Bite the bullet and get it sorted at a reputable workshop. It ain't cheap, but better safe than sorry.

I appreciate you confirming my suspicions regarding the lateral acceleration sensor. The estimated cost of 1000€ aligns with what I was expecting. I have scheduled an appointment to address the defective electronic control unit. I will report back after the repair is completed.
