Mini Cabrio Air Conditioning Problem

Thank you for the quick response. Can you elaborate on how the diagnostic tool helped identify the faulty flap actuator? I am not very experienced with car repairs, so I am trying to understand the process better. Does the diagnostic tool communicate directly with the climate control unit, or does it simply read error codes stored in the system's memory?

Yes, the diagnostic tool connects to the car's computer and reads error codes. These codes usually point to a specific component or system. In my Volvo's case, the code indicated a problem with the air circulation, which then led the mechanic to inspect the flap actuator. Since you have a similar error code related to the rear ventilation flap, it is very likely the culprit. Given your description, it seems best to bring it to a workshop to check the flap and the cable connections. It seems likely to be the cable as you said.

Just wanted to provide an update. I took the Mini to a local workshop as suggested. They performed system diagnostics and confirmed the rear ventilation flap fault, just as suspected. The cable connection was indeed defective. They replaced the faulty connector, cleared the error memory, and now the air conditioning is working perfectly again. The total cost was 95€. Thank you for your advice and sharing your experience. It really helped me to narrow down the issue and avoid unnecessary expenses.

That sounds frustrating. I had a similar issue with my previous car, an older Volvo. The air conditioning would intermittently fail, and it turned out to be a faulty flap actuator in the climate control system. It's like a tiny gatekeeper controlling the air circulation. Have you checked the flap actuator itself or had the system diagnostics performed to pinpoint the exact source of the error? In my case, the diagnostic tool showed an error code related to the air circulation, which led the technician to inspect the flap actuator.
