Mini Cabrio Climate Control Failure
Summary of the thread
The climate control panel in a 2012 Mini Cabrio diesel is failing, with insufficient heating output and a non-functional air conditioning system. The error memory indicates a fault, and the initial assessment suggests a defective cable or plug connection as the probable cause. Checking fuses related to the climate control panel is recommended as a first step. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by repairing a faulty electrical connector on the control panel.

When you say 'HVAC system went haywire', can you elaborate on the specific symptoms you observed? Also, did the error memory store any relevant fault codes, as is the case with my Mini Cabrio?

Right, sorry for not being clearer. My symptoms were similar – inconsistent blower motor operation, and the temperature would fluctuate wildly. By 'HVAC system' I just mean the whole heating and air conditioning unit. And yes, there were fault codes stored. Honestly, tracing electrical connectors and the temperature sensor seemed like a nightmare, so I bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. Best 95€ I ever spent.

Thank you for the input. The issue was indeed a faulty electrical connector on the control panel. Repair cost was as estimated.

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had something similar happen in my Mini, though it's not exactly the same year. My HVAC system went haywire. The blower motor wouldn't kick on sometimes, and the temperature was all over the place. Have you checked all the fuses related to the climate control panel? That's the first thing I'd do. It could be a simple fix before you start chasing more complicated gremlins in the system.
