Mini Cabrio Climate Control Failure

I am experiencing a failure of the climate control panel in my 2012 Mini Cabrio diesel. The error memory has stored a fault. The heating output is insufficient, and the air conditioning system does not activate. The most probable cause, according to my initial assessment, is a defective cable or plug connection to the component.

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had something similar happen in my Mini, though it's not exactly the same year. My HVAC system went haywire. The blower motor wouldn't kick on sometimes, and the temperature was all over the place. Have you checked all the fuses related to the climate control panel? That's the first thing I'd do. It could be a simple fix before you start chasing more complicated gremlins in the system.

When you say 'HVAC system went haywire', can you elaborate on the specific symptoms you observed? Also, did the error memory store any relevant fault codes, as is the case with my Mini Cabrio?

Right, sorry for not being clearer. My symptoms were similar – inconsistent blower motor operation, and the temperature would fluctuate wildly. By 'HVAC system' I just mean the whole heating and air conditioning unit. And yes, there were fault codes stored. Honestly, tracing electrical connectors and the temperature sensor seemed like a nightmare, so I bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. Best 95€ I ever spent.

Thank you for the input. The issue was indeed a faulty electrical connector on the control panel. Repair cost was as estimated.
