Mini Cabrio Diesel Mixture Preparation Error

I'm experiencing a rather perplexing issue with my 2011 Mini Cabrio diesel. The engine seems to be suffering from a mixture preparation error. The symptoms include reduced engine power, the check engine light illuminating intermittently, rough engine running, noticeable jerking during acceleration, and occasional engine stalling at idle. I suspect a defective injection valve or injector. Has anyone encountered a similar problem, and if so, what was the solution?

A 2011 Mini Cabrio diesel is experiencing a mixture preparation error, leading to reduced engine power, intermittent check engine light, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and occasional stalling. The suspected cause is a defective injection valve or injector. The solution involved confirming a faulty injector, replacing it, and recalibrating the ECU, which resolved the issue.

Sounds like a real headache! I had similar symptoms on my Mini a while back loss of power, the check engine light popping on, and the engine running rough. I suspected the mass airflow sensor at first, but it turned out to be something else. Did you check the intake manifold for leaks? Is the throttle body clean? When was the last time you replaced the spark plugs?

Turns out, it was a dodgy injector. Caused all sorts of mayhem. Given your symptoms and the mileage, I'd say it's worth getting the injectors properly checked out by a workshop. Could save you a lot of time and hassle in the long run.

Thanks for your quick reply. I did check the intake manifold for any obvious leaks, but didn't find anything. The throttle body seems clean, but I haven't removed it for a thorough inspection. Spark plugs were replaced about 8000 km ago. What was the 'something else' in your case? Anything specific I should be looking for?

The shop confirmed it was indeed a faulty injector. They replaced it, and after recalibrating the ECU, the Mini runs like new again. Total bill came to 515€ parts and labor. Thanks for your help.
