Mini Cabrio Diesel Trouble

I'm having some trouble with my 2016 Mini Cabrio diesel. The error memory has a fault stored, the gear selection display in the speedometer isn't working, cruise control is dead, and sometimes the engine won't start at all. I've read it could be a bad clutch pedal switch, maybe a defective cable or plug. Does this sound right? And if so, is the safety switch the likely culprit? I'm trying to avoid a costly repair if it is something simple as i've seen repair cost estimates of 95€.

Sounds like a faulty switch alright! The engine not starting is a big clue, as it's a safety mechanism. Have you checked the connection to the switch itself? A loose plug could cause all these issues. Give the cable a wiggle and see if anything changes.

Thanks for the quick reply. By 'connection', do you mean the plug that goes directly into the switch on the clutch pedal? Is there a way to test the switch itself to be absolutely sure before replacing it?

Yes, I meant the plug directly into the switch. And yes, you could test it with a multimeter, but honestly, given all the symptoms point to the clutch pedal switch and you've already seen an error code, I'd bet that's your issue. Considering the safety mechanism preventing starting, it's pretty conclusive. If you're not comfortable with electrical testing, just get it to a workshop. Save yourself the headache.

Quick update. It was indeed the clutch pedal switch. Got it replaced for 98€ including labor. Everything's working fine now. Thanks for your help!
