Mini Cabrio engine issues

My 2011 Mini Cabrio diesel is throwing up some concerning symptoms. The engine light is on, and I'm experiencing reduced engine power, poor engine response, and what seems like higher fuel consumption. I suspect it might be a crankshaft to camshaft reference value issue, possibly a defective crankshaft sensor affecting engine synchronization. Anyone else encountered this? I am thinking about the timing chain also.

I had a similar issue with my Mini Cabrio. The engine light was on, and the car felt sluggish. Have you checked the crankshaft sensor?

Interesting. Was it just the crankshaft sensor, or did you have other issues like timing belt issues or synchronization problems that needed addressing?

Yes, for me it was only the crankshaft sensor. The garage checked the timing and confirmed it was okay, so I didn't need any work on the timing belt. I suggest you get it checked out at a workshop.

The workshop confirmed the crankshaft sensor was indeed faulty. They replaced it, and after a check of the timing, everything is back to normal. The total was 340€.
