Mini Cabrio Engine Issues

I'm at my wit's end with my 2013 Mini Cabrio diesel. The engine light is on, and she's jerking like crazy when I accelerate. Plus, there's this awful whistling and hissing sound, almost like air escaping somewhere around the turbocharger. Sometimes it even stalls at idle, and my fuel consumption has gone through the roof. I suspect it might be the boost pressure sensor, maybe a dodgy connection. Any ideas before I bite the bullet and take it to a workshop?

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Mini, though I have a petrol engine. Engine light came on, and the car felt like it was struggling to accelerate. Did you check the intake manifold for leaks? Also, is the whistling noise constant or only under acceleration?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the intake manifold myself. Where exactly should I be looking for leaks? And the whistling is definitely only when I put my foot down.

Okay, whistling under acceleration points even more to the turbo system. I wouldn't poke around the intake manifold yourself if you're not familiar. Best bet is to get the boost pressure sensor checked. Could be the cable or the plug. I'd suggest a workshop visit; it's probably a quick fix for them.

Update on my Mini Cabrio. Turns out it was indeed the boost pressure sensor. The cable was faulty, just like we suspected. 95€ later, and she's running like a dream. Thanks for the help!
