Mini Cabrio Engine Misfire Generator Suspected

My 2004 Mini Cabrio is giving me grief. Getting reduced engine power, warning light on the speedometer, and hard starts. Lights are flickering too. I've got an error stored pointing to the generator. I am thinking probably a defective generator. Anyone else had similar engine misfire issues that led to alternator replacement?

Sounds like a generator issue all right! I had something similar with my Mini. Weak lights, then the car won't start. Did you check the battery voltage?

Battery voltage seems okay, but charging isn't happening. Was it a straightforward alternator replacement for you, or were there any car electronics complications?

Yeah, it was the alternator in my case. A faulty generator can cause all sorts of car electronics problems and drain the battery low. If you're not seeing proper charging, better get it to a workshop. They'll confirm it quickly!

Just wanted to let you know that the generator was indeed the issue. Alternator replacement set me back 960€, ouch! But the Mini Cabrio is running smoothly again. Thanks for the heads up!
