Mini Cabrio engine power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Mini Cabrio experienced reduced engine power, poor engine response, and increased fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. The suspected cause was a boost pressure control fault, potentially due to a defective vacuum switching valve. A similar issue was resolved by checking for a vacuum leak and replacing the faulty vacuum switching valve, which restored the car's performance.

Vacuum leak, you say? Where exactly should I be looking? Did you experience any turbo lag, or issues with the bypass valve when you had the problem?

Yes, I did have turbo lag. The workshop identified it as a defect in a vacuum switching valve. It controls the boost pressure. I suggest you get the boost controller checked out and take it to a workshop. It's hard to diagnose these kinds of issues without the proper tools.

Just wanted to close the loop on this. You were spot on. Took it to a workshop, and they confirmed the vacuum switching valve was faulty. Repair cost me 140€. Runs like new now. Thanks for the help.

That sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my Mini Cabrio. Check engine light, loss of power, and the fuel consumption went up. I would suggest checking for a vacuum leak. Has the pressure sensor ever been replaced?
