Intermittent, mostly. I fiddled with the headlight switch but nothing changed. What exactly does the servomotor do?

The servomotor is a small electric motor that physically adjusts the angle of the headlight beam. If it's defective, it won't properly aim your lights, causing the issues you describe with the light intensity. Given the error code and symptoms, a defective servomotor in the headlight sounds like the most probable cause. It's best to take it to a workshop for diagnosis.

Right you are. Turns out it was a faulty servomotor, just like you said. Cost me 1040€ to get it sorted. Thanks for the assist.

Headlight range control issues can be tricky. When you say 'low beam shines too far down or up', is this happening consistently, or is it intermittent? Have you touched the headlight switch lately, or messed with the lighting system settings in the car's computer? Sometimes a simple software glitch can cause a headlight malfunction. Also, the servomotor controls the beam adjustment, so that's a good place to start checking.
