Mini Cabrio Rain Light Sensor Issue

I am experiencing issues with the rain-light sensor on my 2012 Mini Cabrio. There is an error stored in the error memory, and the automatic wiping mode doesn't function in the rain. Additionally, the automatic headlight control and speedometer dimming are not working, and the lights switch on. I suspect it might be bubbles forming under the gel pad of the windshield. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Sounds like a pain. I had a similar electrical fault in my old car, though it wasn't the rain sensor specifically. Have you checked the connection to the auto sensor? Maybe it's just loose.

Thanks for the suggestion. Could you please elaborate on how to check the connection? I'm familiar with basic car maintenance, but I'm not an expert when it comes to car electronics.

Yeah, I think you're on the right track with the sensor itself. If the gel pad is bubbled, it's probably messing with the sensor's ability to 'see' properly. Honestly, for something like that, I'd probably just bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. Car electronics can be tricky, and you don't want to make things worse.

Just wanted to update you. It was indeed the rain-light sensor. The gel pad had bubbles under it. Replaced the sensor for 62€ and everything is working correctly again. Thanks for your input.
