Mini Cabrio rear window heating issue

Right, the rear window heating on my 2014 Mini Cabrio diesel has packed it in. There's an error stored in the memory, and the windshield heating isn't working as it should either. Suspect it's a heavily discharged or defective battery. Anyone seen this before?

Whoa, sounds familiar! My Mini Cabrio had a similar problem with the rear window. The window demister just wouldn't work, and I also got weird errors. Is your battery old? That was my issue. The heating coil needs a lot of juice.

Interesting. How similar was your issue? Did the windshield heating also act up? And was it just a new battery that fixed it for you?

Yeah, pretty much the same. Windshield was acting up too, like the auto defrost wasn't kicking in properly. Changing the battery sorted the rear window and the windshield heating coil. If you're getting errors and weirdness, I'd say get the battery checked. If it's the original, it might be time. If it's not the battery, then I'm out of ideas and you will need to visit a workshop.

Cheers for the input. Turns out the battery was indeed knackered. New one sorted the rear window defroster repair and the auto defrost seems to be behaving itself again. Cost me 290€ all in.
