Mini Cabrio rough engine running
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Mini Cabrio is experiencing rough engine running and reduced power, with the check engine light on. The error memory indicates an issue with the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor. A faulty IAT sensor can cause incorrect air temperature readings, leading to improper fuel mixture and engine problems. Replacing the defective sensor resolved the issue.

IAT sensor? What exactly does air temperature have to do with engine issues?

The IAT sensor tells the car's computer the air temperature coming into the engine. This air temperature data is used to adjust the fuel mixture. If the temperature reading is wrong, it can cause all sorts of engine issues like rough running. Better get it to the workshop. The eventual repair cost me 155€.

Just a quick update. The intake air temperature sensor was indeed faulty. Replaced it, and now everything seems fine. Thanks for the advice!

Sounds like a faulty IAT sensor. I had similar engine issues with my Opel after the air temperature sensor went bad. The temperature reading was off, which messed with the fuel mixture. Is the check engine light on?
