Thanks for the reply! When you say ABS, are you talking about something specific? I did notice the ABS light flicker a couple of times. Also, do you know if they checked the fault codes with a specific tool? I'm trying to get as much info as possible before I take it in.

Yes, the ABS is a potential culprit due to consequential faults. The ABS light flickering is a strong indicator. The fault codes can pinpoint the exact cause, but you'll need a professional diagnostic tool to read them accurately. The generic readers don't always pick up everything. Since you're seeing ABS involvement and the transfer case is in limp mode, combined with the shifting issues, I'd say it's best to have a workshop take a look before it causes more damage.

Just wanted to give you a quick update. I took your advice and brought my Mini Cabrio to the shop. Turns out, you were spot on! It was indeed related to the ABS system. The fault codes were pointing all over the place, but they managed to sort it out, and it didn't cost me anything, as it was a warranty issue. Thanks again for your help!

I had a similar issue with my Mini Cabrio. The transfer case going into limp mode sounds familiar, as do the gearbox problems. If the gear selector is acting up, you really need to get it checked out. Have you had any diagnostic trouble, or checked for fault codes recently? It could be related to a torque converter issue, or even something with the ABS. Consequential faults from the ABS can cause havoc with the transfer case. I would advise taking it to a shop.
