Mini Clubman ABS Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Mini Clubman is experiencing an ABS fault, with the ABS lamp constantly lit and the system non-functional. The diagnostic scan indicates a lateral acceleration sensor fault, suggesting a defective control unit. A similar issue was resolved by replacing the electronic control unit, which was confirmed as the necessary repair, costing around 1000€. The repair successfully restored the ABS functionality.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did run a diagnostic scan, and it's showing a lateral acceleration sensor fault. It is pointing to a defective control unit. Were you getting the same error? Did you end up replacing the entire unit?

Yep, same error. I tried cleaning the sensor first, but no luck. Eventually, I had to replace the entire electronic control unit. Given the diagnostic scan result, I'd say it's likely the same issue. You're probably looking at a workshop visit.

Just an update. I took the Mini Clubman to the shop, and they confirmed the lateral acceleration sensor fault. The electronic control unit was indeed defective, just like you suspected. Repair cost me about 1000€. Everything is working fine now. Thanks for your help!

ABS and traction control lights usually point to sensor issues. I had a similar problem with my Mini. First thing I'd check is the sensor connections themselves. Have you run a diagnostic scan to pull the specific error codes? That'll give you a better idea of what's triggering the safety warning.
