Mini Clubman Auxiliary Heater Problem

Alright, so the auxiliary heater on my 2010 Mini Clubman is acting up. It won't activate, and there's an error stored in the system. I've done some digging, and it seems a likely cause might be a defective glow plug. Has anyone else run into this, and if so, does that sound right? Is there a way to test this without just replacing parts? The car's heating system is pretty essential now!

I had similar issues with my Mini, although not exactly the same symptoms. It might be related to a faulty temperature sensor impacting the heat control. Does the blower motor seem to be working correctly? Have you checked the relevant fuses?

The blower motor seems fine and I did check the fuses, all good there. The temperature sensor is an interesting point. If the auxiliary heater can't be activated and the error memory stores something, does that really point towards the glow plug instead of the temperature sensor? What was the error code you were seeing?

Yes, I saw similar errors at the workshop pointing towards the glow plug. Given the error code and that the blower motor is functional, I'd trust it. It will cause the auxiliary heater not to start. I recommend a visit to the workshop, they'll likely confirm the glow plug issue and can provide an exact repair quote.

Just wanted to update you I took the Mini to get checked out. They confirmed it was the glow plug causing the auxiliary heater problem and replaced it. Cost me around 440€. Thanks again for the advice!
