Mini Clubman Brake Light Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Mini Clubman displayed a brake light failure, with an error message suggesting a potential faulty brake light switch. The issue was resolved by checking the brake pedal's positioning, as it wasn't fully returning to its resting position, preventing the switch from disengaging. Adjusting the pedal resolved the brake light failure without needing to replace the switch.

Interesting. Could you elaborate on the 'positioning of the brake pedal'? What exactly am I looking for?

Certainly! In my case, the brake pedal wasn't fully returning to its resting position, preventing the switch from fully disengaging. This caused intermittent issues. Look for anything obstructing the pedal's movement. If that doesn't work, a workshop visit might be necessary to properly diagnose the electrical issue.

Confirmed: the brake pedal wasn't fully returning. Repositioned it, issue resolved. Thank you for the advice.

I had a similar electrical issue manifest in my Clubman's tail light circuit! Intermittent brake light failure, the whole shebang. I was baffled at first. Did you check the positioning of the brake pedal itself? The switch activation point might be off. It's a long shot, but it's the easiest thing to inspect. I am curious: Does the error message appear immediately after starting the car, or only when you depress the brake pedal?
