Mini Clubman Charge Air Temperature Sensor Error

I come to you with a problem that's got me scratching my head. My 2015 Mini Clubman diesel is throwing a charge air temperature sensor error. The check engine light is on, engine power is reduced, and there's a distinct whistling noise, almost a loud hissing when I accelerate. The error memory points to a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone encountered something similar? Is this a common issue with these air temperature sensors? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I had something similar happen with my Clubman. Same symptoms, check engine light and all. Was the whistling noise constant, or just under acceleration? Did you check the air intake for any obvious cracks or leaks?

The whistling noise is definitely more noticeable when accelerating. I visually inspected the air intake, but didn't spot any obvious cracks. Could a small, hard-to-see leak cause this? And if it's the automotive sensor, is it difficult to replace?

Yep, sounds very familiar. Mine was also the charge air temperature sensor. A tiny crack in the connection was enough to cause all sorts of problems. Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly and replace the air sensor if needed.

Just wanted to update. It was indeed the charge air temperature sensor. The cable and plug connection were defective, just as the error code suggested. Replaced it, and the Mini Clubman is back to its old self! Total cost was 95€, a small price to pay for peace of mind. Thanks for your help!
