Mini Clubman damping adjustment fault

I am at my wit's end! My 2010 Mini Clubman diesel has developed a damping adjustment fault. The error is stored in the error memory, and the speedometer displays a warning light. As if that weren't enough, the ride is incredibly bumpy now. From what I've read, the likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to proceed? This is significantly affecting the car handling.

That sounds frustrating! I had a somewhat similar issue with my Mini Cooper related to vehicle suspension. While my symptoms were slightly different, I also experienced a bumpy ride and saw errors related to the car damping system. Have you checked the connections to the shock absorber units? Sometimes, a loose or corroded connection can cause these kinds of intermittent faults. It is possible the problem is within the suspension tuning system.

Interesting! When you say 'connections to the shock absorber units', are you referring to the electrical plugs? And how did you end up resolving the issue?

Yes, I meant the electrical plugs. In my case, it turned out to be a corroded connector on one of the front shock absorbers. Initially, I tried cleaning the connector myself, but the error kept returning. Eventually, I took it to a workshop, and they replaced the connector. It resolved the issue completely. Given that you suspect a cable or plug connection, it might be worth checking those first, but if you are not comfortable doing so, I would recommend a workshop visit before the issue affects the vehicle suspension.

I greatly appreciate your help. I went to the workshop, and you were right, it was just a defective plug connection, exactly what I suspected. They fixed it for 95€, and the car damping is back to normal. The warning light is also gone. Thanks again for your advice!
