Mini Clubman diesel incorrect fuel composition error
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Mini Clubman diesel displayed an 'incorrect fuel composition' error, accompanied by a check engine light and engine stalling at idle. The error memory suggested a possible defective cable or plug connection. After investigation, it was confirmed that a faulty plug connection in the fuel system was the cause. Repairing the connection resolved the issue.

Thanks for your quick reply! I haven't checked the fuel filter, no. And the fuel quality... well, I always try to get it from reputable stations, but who knows, right? As for fuel additives, no, I don't use any. Could you be a bit more specific about what exactly was the problem with your car? Maybe it's the same issue.

Okay, so, with mine, the symptoms sound very similar. After some back and forth, the workshop found a faulty connection in the fuel system. It could be several things causing it, so maybe it is best if you have it checked out.

Just wanted to update you: It was indeed a defective plug connection. The error memory was read, the connection repaired and the error deleted. Everything works fine now and the total cost was 95€. Thanks again for your help!

I also own a Mini Clubman diesel. A similar thing happened to me a while back. Engine light, stalling... turned out to be something with the fuel system. Have you checked your fuel filter recently? Also, what about fuel quality? Bad fuel can cause havoc. Are you using any fuel additives?
