Mini Clubman Diesel Preheating Lamp Issue

My 2020 Mini Clubman diesel is showing a preheating lamp that won't switch off and there's an error stored in the error memory. I'm guessing it's a glow plug problem. Could a defective glow plug be the reason the check engine light is on?

Sounds like a glow plug issue for sure. I had a similar problem with my Peugeot a while back. The check engine light was on, and it turned out to be a bad glow plug. Does the engine light stay on all the time, or does it sometimes go off? Also, is it harder to start, especially when it's cold?

The engine light is constantly on. It starts okay, but I'm worried about causing more damage. What exactly did you do when the same thing happened to your diesel car?

Yeah, my engine light was always on too. I didn't try to fix it myself, as I was worried about messing something up. To be safe, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose it and replace the glow plug. It's probably the best way to go, even if it costs a bit more.

Just wanted to let you know I got it sorted. Ended up being a faulty glow plug like we thought. Cost 440€ to replace. Thanks for your help!
