Mini Clubman Diesel Reduced Engine Power

I'm officially stumped and freaking out a little! My 2019 Mini Clubman diesel has suddenly decided it doesn't want to play nice. I'm getting seriously reduced engine power, and of course, the dreaded check engine light is glaring at me. Feels like it's stuck in limp mode. My amateur diagnosis points to a defective throttle valve, maybe the accelerator pedal module or some dodgy electronics inside. Anyone experienced anything similar? Any ideas before I'm forced to sell a kidney for repairs?

Whoa, that sounds rough! Check engine lights are never fun. Is the air intake system clean? A blocked air filter or something could mess with the throttle sensor readings and cause limp mode. Is it struggling at all during acceleration?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the air intake system yet, but that's a good shout. Where exactly is the throttle sensor located? And if the air filter is the culprit, would that really trigger the check engine light and cause such a drastic power loss?

Okay, if you're getting a check engine light and reduced power, combined with the throttle valve suspicion, it's probably something serious. While a dirty air filter could contribute, it's less likely to cause such a dramatic issue. The throttle sensor, if faulty, will definitely throw things off. Honestly, with those symptoms, and before you start throwing parts at it, I'd recommend getting it to a trusted workshop to properly diagnose the root cause.

Just wanted to close the loop on this one. Took your advice and got my Clubman to the workshop. Turns out it was indeed the throttle valve and the replacement cost including labor was 265€. Runs like a charm now! Thanks for the help!
