Mini Clubman electrical issues
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Mini Clubman was experiencing electrical issues, including a heavily discharged battery, flickering lights, and error messages related to voltage. The suspected cause was a defective battery sensor. After confirming similar symptoms with another owner and consulting a mechanic, the faulty battery sensor was replaced, resolving the issues and restoring proper battery function.

Terminals looked clean, and the vehicle battery is relatively new. I'm just wondering, when you say 'similar issue,' are we talking about the exact same symptoms? Error message, flickering lights, the works? Trying to gauge how confident I should be in this 'battery sensor' diagnosis before I drop 315€.

Yep, all of it. Error message, weak lights, the whole nine yards. The battery was constantly being drained. I eventually bit the bullet and took it to the workshop. They ran a diagnostic and confirmed it was the battery sensor. Honestly, unless you have the tools and know-how to diagnose it yourself, you are better off having a professional look at it.

Just wanted to close the loop on this. Took my Mini Clubman to the shop, and you were spot on. The battery sensor was indeed faulty. New sensor installed, and now the battery is charging properly again. Lights are bright, no more error messages. Thanks for the help!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Clubman. Did you check the battery terminals for corrosion? A loose connection can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems. Also, has the vehicle battery ever been replaced? A dead battery or one that's on its way out can cause similar symptoms.
