Mini Clubman engine power loss and smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Mini Clubman diesel model experienced a noticeable reduction in engine power and visible smoke during acceleration, leading to concerns about a defective diesel particulate filter. The issue was confirmed to be related to the diesel filter, which also affected fuel efficiency. The suggested solution was to have the vehicle checked by a workshop to prevent further damage, and the repair cost was approximately 1550€.

Thank you for your reply. Was the diesel filter the definitive cause in your case? And did you experience any issues with fuel efficiency beforehand?

Yep, it was the diesel filter. The garage confirmed it pretty quickly. Fuel efficiency went down the drain before the light even came on. Honestly, I'd get it checked out by a workshop ASAP. Don't want to risk further damage.

It appears that the diesel particulate filter was indeed the issue. The repair cost came to approximately 1550€. Hopefully, this resolves the problem permanently.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Mini Cooper – not the Clubman, but same engine. The engine light came on, and it felt like I was driving through treacle. Is it still under warranty? Might be worth checking your exhaust system too. Good luck!
