Mini Clubman Sunroof Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Mini Clubman diesel owner experienced issues with the sunroof, where the sunblind was stuck, and the convertible top was unresponsive. The problem likely stemmed from recent coding changes affecting the sunroof's control module. Suggested solutions included checking fuses and resetting the system by disconnecting the battery, but these did not resolve the issue. Ultimately, the sunroof required recalibration using diagnostic software, which was successfully performed by a professional workshop, restoring normal operation.

Thanks for the reply! I did check the fuses – all seem fine. I also tried the battery thing, but no luck. What exactly do you mean by 'sunroof calibration'? Is that something I can do myself, or does it need special equipment? I'm not exactly a car expert, so any details you can give me would be amazing!

By calibration, I mean the sunroof control module probably needs to be reset so it knows the 'home' position of the sunblind and roof. Unfortunately, it usually requires diagnostic software (like ISTA or similar) to perform the sunroof calibration procedure. While there might be DIY methods floating around online, you risk further messing things up. Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop that specializes in Mini or BMW vehicles. They should be able to recalibrate the sunroof without too much hassle.

Just wanted to say thanks a million for the help! I took it to a local place, and they said the sunroof needed a calibration. Apparently, when I had some coding done, it messed with the sunroof's computer. They reset it for 75€, and everything is working perfectly again! So relieved it wasn't something major.

That sounds incredibly frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Audi a while back – the panoramic roof went completely haywire after I messed around with the car's ECU. The symptoms you describe sound like a classic case of lost sunroof calibration. Have you tried any basic troubleshooting steps like checking fuses or disconnecting the battery for a while to reset the system?
