Mini Clubman transmission issues and error codes

I am writing to you today with a heavy heart and a perplexing issue concerning my 2011 Mini Clubman. Recently, I've encountered a cascade of alarming symptoms, including the illumination of the transmission indicator light and the check engine light. Furthermore, the automatic transmission has entered what I believe to be emergency mode, resulting in abnormal shifting patterns, slippage, unclean gear changes, and disconcerting grinding noises during shifts. An error stored in the error memory mentions that the radiator oil pressure is defective. My initial thought is that it's a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone experienced something similar, or could offer any advice?

Whoa, sounds rough! I had something similar happen with my Mini Cooper, though not exactly the same. My check engine light kept flashing, and the transmission was acting up. For me, the issue was related to the oil cooler. Have you checked the cooling fan to see if it's running properly? Also, is the car overheating at all? It could be a pressure sensor acting up. Hopefully it's something simple!

Thanks for your reply! The car overheating isn't happening, and as far as I know, the cooling fan seems to run as expected. The error memory says 'Radiator oil pressure defective'. Could you tell me more about the pressure sensor issue you mentioned? Where is it located, and how did you diagnose it?

Okay, since you’re getting a specific error code related to the radiator oil pressure, it probably isn’t the same issue I had. I was just throwing out some ideas. If you're getting that specific error, and it isn't overheating it points to a faulty sensor. It's tricky to get to. Honestly, you're probably best off taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the cable and replace it if needed.

I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for your help. Based on your recommendation, I visited a local repair shop. They confirmed that the cable to the oil pressure sensor on the radiator was indeed faulty. The final bill only came to 95€ including the diagnosis and replacement of the cable. I am glad to report the Mini Clubman is back to normal!
