Mini Cooper car alarm fault
Summary of the thread
The car alarm on a 2015 Mini Cooper diesel was malfunctioning, with error memory indicating a fault and the system being non-functional. The suspected cause was a discharged auxiliary battery due to its age. The solution involved taking the car to a workshop, where the auxiliary battery was replaced, and a system diagnosis was performed, resolving the issue.

Yeah I checked the main battery, seems fine. I didn't even know there was an auxiliary battery to be honest. Where is it located and is it easy to check myself?

Yep, that's exactly what happened to mine. It's a pain to get to, you basically need to remove half the trim in the boot. Honestly, I'd suggest just getting it to a workshop. They can do a proper system diagnosis and replace the battery if needed. It'll save you a lot of hassle.

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice. I took it to a local workshop and you were spot on, auxiliary battery was completely discharged. They replaced it and ran a system diagnosis, everything is working properly now. Cost me around 330€ but at least the car alarm is fully functional again.

I had a similar issue with my Mini Cooper. The car alarm would just out of nowhere go off. I checked the main battery first, but it was fine. Did you do a battery check on the auxiliary battery? That's usually the culprit.
