Mini Cooper combustion misfires
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Mini Cooper is experiencing combustion misfires, with symptoms including a rough-running engine, an illuminated check engine light, jerking during acceleration, and reduced engine power. Preliminary diagnostics suggest a defective injection valve, likely a fuel injector issue. A similar case involved a faulty fuel injector affecting throttle response, which was resolved by replacing the injectors. After replacing all injectors, the engine performance improved, and the throttle response returned to normal.

Thank you for your input. I did examine the spark plugs; they appear to be in good condition. Could you please elaborate on the symptoms you experienced with the fuel injector issue? Did you notice any specific problems with throttle response?

Yes, the throttle response was definitely affected. The car felt sluggish, especially when accelerating. It turned out that one of the fuel injectors was faulty. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a workshop. It's best to have them diagnose it properly to confirm.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It does appear I was on the right track. The diagnostic pointed to a faulty fuel injector. I have had all injectors replaced. The engine now runs smoothly, and the throttle response is back to normal. The total cost came to 515€.

I had a similar issue with my Mini Cooper. The engine was misfiring, and the check engine light was on. Have you checked the spark plugs? That was my first thought. It could also be the fuel filter.
