Mini Cooper Coolant Loss Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Mini Cooper owner experienced a persistent coolant loss and a check engine light, with an error indicating a defective cable or plug connection. Concerns were raised about potential head gasket issues or a simple coolant leak. After seeking advice, it was suggested to check for air pockets and inspect the radiator hoses and coolant reservoir. Ultimately, a workshop visit revealed a defective plug connection, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

Air pockets, huh? I bled the system a couple of times, but maybe I didn't do it right. Where exactly should I be looking for these 'defective plug connections'? Is it something I can check myself, or am I better off just taking it to a workshop?

Yeah, bleeding the system can be tricky. Honestly, the 'defective plug connection' error sounds like it could be related to the coolant level sensor or something similar. It might be hard to find without the right tools. I would advise you to go to a workshop.

Okay, I took your advice and brought my Mini Cooper in. Turns out you were spot on – it was a defective plug connection! They replaced it, cleared the error code, and the coolant level is stable now. Cost me 95€. Thanks a bunch for your help!

Low coolant and a check engine light? Sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same issue with my Mini Cooper. Have you checked for air pockets in the system? That can sometimes cause the coolant level to fluctuate. Also, take a really close look at your radiator hoses and the coolant reservoir for any signs of a coolant leak. I'm just saying because I had the same error stored, and it was a pain to figure out.
