Mini Cooper Diesel Reduced Engine Power
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Mini Cooper diesel experienced reduced engine power and stored error codes, likely due to a previous owner's performance remap. This modification can confuse the ECU, leading to diagnostic issues and power reduction. The suggested solution was to revert the ECU to its original settings, which resolved the problem and restored normal engine performance.

Remap? Yeah, the previous owner mentioned something about a 'performance upgrade'. Could that really cause this much hassle? I mean, is it really the likely cause for my scan tool to pick up this fault code?

Yeah, a dodgy remap will do it every time. The ECU gets confused, throws a fault code, and bingo – reduced power. I'd suggest getting it checked out by someone who knows their stuff. Could be worth getting the ECU flashed back to the original settings. That sorted my engine issue right out.

Dude, thanks a bunch for the insights! Took it to the shop, and you nailed it. Turns out the remap was dodgy. They flashed it back to stock, and the dashboard light is gone. Cost me 180€, but at least my Mini Cooper's diesel engine is running like a champ again!

Reduced engine power and a fault code? Sounds familiar. I had a similar engine issue with my Mini Cooper. Have you had any aftermarket modifications done, like a remap or chip tuning? That can throw up all sorts of diagnostic codes and trigger the dashboard light.
