Mini Cooper Electric AC Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Mini Cooper Electric with 57,490 km is experiencing a complete air conditioning failure, with the system not activating or cooling. Preliminary diagnostics suggest the issue may be due to defective valves within the air conditioning system. A similar case involved a high-pitched noise before failure, indicating a potential valve issue, which was resolved by replacing the faulty valve.

Regarding the AC noise, can you elaborate? What type of noise, and when did you notice it relative to the failure?

It was a high-pitched whine, almost like a dentist's drill, noticeable especially at low blower motor speeds. Eventually, the temperature control stopped responding. I'd get it checked asap. Likely needs a new valve.

Acknowledged. Your input steered me towards the likely culprit. It was indeed a faulty valve. Final repair including parts and labor came to 1000€. I appreciate the insights.

Sounds like my experience last year. Any weird AC noise before it went out? Check the pressure switch too. Could be a refrigerant leak if you hear hissing.
