Mini Cooper Electric AC Troubles

My 2023 Mini Cooper Electric is giving me headaches. The air conditioning system suddenly stopped working it just doesn't switch on anymore, and it's summer. The HVAC system is completely unresponsive, blowing warm air. I scanned for error codes, and it's showing something about undervoltage being a likely cause for the A/C compressor shut off. Any ideas where to start troubleshooting before I take it to a workshop?

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Mini Cooper Electric experienced an issue where the air conditioning system stopped working, blowing only warm air. The problem was traced to an undervoltage error code, suggesting the A/C compressor shut off due to insufficient voltage. Initial troubleshooting involved checking the car battery voltage, as a weak battery can cause electrical issues. Ultimately, a workshop confirmed the undervoltage issue, resolving it and restoring the air conditioning functionality.

Check your car battery voltage. A weak battery can cause all sorts of weird electrical issues in these electric Minis. Has the car been sitting for extended periods? Also, is the error code specifically related to undervoltage, or is it a more generic A/C system fault?

Thanks for the quick reply! I'll check the battery voltage as soon as I can. The error code, as far as I remember, did point towards undervoltage. Is there a specific voltage level I should be looking for as a minimum? And could a faulty relay switch also trigger this kind of problem, or is that less likely?

Undervoltage is a common gremlin in these cars, especially with the air conditioning being a power-hungry system. While a relay switch issue is possible, undervoltage is the more probable culprit given the error code. I would advise taking it to the workshop; they will be able to properly diagnose the electrical system.

Took the Mini to the workshop this morning. Turns out it was indeed the undervoltage issue causing the A/C compressor to shut down. They checked the relay switch, pressure switch, and belt tensioner for good measure, but the fault code pointed them right to it. 240€ later, the air conditioning is blowing cold again. Thanks for the help!
