Mini Cooper Electric low tire pressure warning

My 2022 Mini Cooper Electric is displaying a low tire pressure warning. I have checked the tire pressure using a tire gauge, and while it is slightly low, it is not critically so. I have reinflated the tire to the recommended pressure, but the warning persists. The tire monitoring system seems to be functioning, as it correctly identifies the specific tire with low pressure. I suspect a slow leak, possibly due to a defective valve. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem with their Mini Cooper's tire monitoring system?

I experienced a similar situation with my Mini Cooper. The tire pressure warning illuminated, and I noticed some instability. Have you checked for any visible signs of a punctured tire or damage to the tire itself? Also, does your vehicle have a direct tire monitoring system with individual tire sensors?

I appreciate the quick response. I did a visual inspection and couldn't find any obvious punctures or embedded objects. I'm also experiencing some unusual symptoms. The ABS lamp is now illuminated, and the steering wheel vibrates noticeably, especially at higher speeds. I've also noticed increased effort required when steering, suggesting the power steering might be failing. Could a faulty tire valve really cause all of these issues, or am I looking at something more complex than just a flat tire? Also, to answer your question, yes, my Mini Cooper Electric has individual tire sensors.

Given the additional symptoms you describe (ABS lamp, vibrating steering, and increased steering effort), it is quite possible the underlying issue is more complex than a simple flat tire, but a defective tire valve can indeed cause all sorts of strange behavior. In my case, the defective valve caused a slow leak, which then triggered a cascade of errors with the ABS and power steering systems. I suggest taking your Mini Cooper to a qualified workshop for a thorough inspection.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I took the Mini Cooper to the workshop and, as suspected, the valve in the tire was defective, causing a slow leak and triggering the tire pressure warning. The tire sensor was working properly. Repair cost came to 280€, including the new valve and labor. Appreciate the input.
